The Dassault Mirage III (French pronunciation: ) is a family of single-seat, single-engine, fighter aircraft developed and manufactured by French aircraft company Dassault Aviation.It was the first Western European combat aircraft to exceed Mach 2 in horizontal flight. Like the Mirage I, the Mirage III had provision for a SEPR rocket engine. It is the only VTOL aircraft in the world to have broken Mach 2.
