It challenges you to make your own way among other competitors to make human life interplanetary. It's a hex game and looks very different.
However, as is the case with many of the Game Master series, this game seems to be based (at least primarily) on an earlier, mid-late '70s game.
I'm open to anything besides Homefront.
I just love the idea of the setting. The earlier incarnation is entitle "Invasion America" (you can find it on BGG).
I've watched Red Dawn this weekend, and it got me wanting to play a game similar to it. But that description falls short. It's an Aerospace Company Manager game set in the current space race inspired by NASA’s unending progress and SpaceX’s revolution.

Whether the success of Red Dawn had anything to do with releasing this game or not, I can't say. Homefront is a first-person shooter video game developed by Kaos Studios and published by THQ.The game tells the story of a resistance movement fighting in the near-future against the military occupation of the Western United States by a Korea unified under Kim Jong-un.It was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011. Initiative is a game about mankind's desire for exploration, ambition and conquering of the unknown.
